Mostly Moss

DSC_0181

MOSS – one of those things we love about the Pacific Northwest.  If my garden grew as well as the moss around here, we’d be selling vegetables.  AND this is just one year’s growth.

Jim took a look outside last Saturday and noticed the deplorable state of affairs after a long wet winter and decided to put some able bodied young men to work.

Devin got lawn detail and Darren and Nathan got a scrub brush and a jug of moss remover.  They went to work on the bricks--except the moss wasn’t cooperating.  .

Darren came up with a brilliant idea, actually, and talked his Dad into renting a power washer.  Turns out it was a better deal to just go and buy one.  They were all very happy with their new toy

It was all about taking turns and sharing.  This was considered FUN.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Richelle was working hard as well—the girls had a young women broadcast to get ready for.

“Hey, Darren’s time is up.  It’s my turn.”

Darren even cleaned off our slippery slimy deck, chairs, walls and all.

Then yesterday, he finished the driveway and sidewalk in front of the house and the gutters.  It hailed on him about 5 different times and the temperature dropped to 39, but he just kind of ignored it.  After that it was out back to tackle the patio.

All clean!

Yesterday, I heard him say to Nathan, “You better give me some of your marbles.  I feel like working."  He now  wants to paint the front porch railing and the front door.  Hey, he does sort of look like he’s lost his marbles. . .

As for me, I like this kind of crazy.
